I hope you all are in good health. The lockdown may end soon, but not social distancing. So, make sure to take care of your health wisely for the benefit of yourself and the people around you.

All OTT platforms are the saviour for us during this pandemic as they are releasing some good movies to binge-watch.  Amazon Prime is also premiering some fantastic shows and movies which you can stream online.

Am sharing some of my favourites which I enjoyed watching.  The list is a combination of various genres. It will assuredly give you a dose of entertainment.

1) INTERN – 2015

Genre: Romantic comedy

This story is based on office setup and has actors who are Oscar winners- Robert Di Niro and Anne Hathaway which makes this movie endearing to watch.

Ben, a seventy-year-old widower who had satisfactory work and personal life decides to apply for a job because retirement is not meant for him.  He then gets a senior intern job at an online fashion store run by Hathaway’s character.

I liked the movie because of its simplicity yet fine characters which are relatable. A feel-good movie filled with emotions, drama, and comedy. The camaraderie between intern and boss (Robert Di Niro and Anne Hathaway) is what makes this movie worth your time.

*This movie will be remade in Bollywood by Deepika Padukone’s film production.

2) THAPPAD – 2020

Genre: Drama

Thappad is the story of Amrita, a simple housewife devoted to her husband and family. She is happy in her housewife role till one fine day; her life gets completely shattered when her husband, whom she loved and cared the most, slaps her once unintentionally in a party in front of a group of people.

I binged watched this movie as soon it got aired on Amazon Prime and it was worth the watch. It is a simple story with provoking message- is one slap enough to break the committed and loving relationships?

It is not about one slap, but the attitude and ego behind that which unfolds the wife’s sacrifices.

“Hum to hamesha sahi hi soch ke karte hain, galat ka toh badmein pata chalta hai” I liked this dialogue as it is so much right.

3) Christmas Catch – 2018

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Mackenzie is a 30+ smart and tough detective who believes in fate and hope someday she will meet her knight in shining armour. As the Christmas season going on, her wait ends as she experienced the serendipity of her dream man in Carson. But then the FBI makes her in-charge of diamond theft, and she gets to know that Carson is their lead suspect.

Will, she finds the real truth? Watch it to find out. If you love watching Christmas movies, then don’t miss out on this too. So what if it’s summer, good Christmas movies will always enlighten your mood.

4) Good Newwz – 2019

Genre: Comedy

Two married couples having the same surnames pursue IVF and undergo treatment. However, they are in trouble when their doctors inform them about the exchange of sperms which makes them insane.

A lovely star cast and the fun element of this sensitive issue made the movie a super hit. Do take this movie in a light way and am sure, you will enjoy this.

Kareena Kapoor and the other actors have done stupendous work which will tickle your funny bones. There are some delightful, emotional scenes also apart from humour.

5) CONTAGION – 2011

Genre: Thriller, Drama

I doubt if you have missed this movie during this pandemic as it is so much relatable.

A deadly outbreak of a fatal disease which started from Hong Kong, rapidly infects people across the globe. As the fast-moving epidemic keeps increasing, the global medical community races to develop the vaccine and the anti-dote to control the virus which is extremely contagious.

This movie will leave you spell-bound because of the ongoing COVID19. Few symptoms, origin, and preventive measures are almost the same.

*Do not watch if you are already stressed out due to the lockdown and the virus.

6) Jumanji the next level – 2019

Genre: Comedy, Action

This movie will be premiered on 10th May, so don’t forget to watch this adventure movie.

2 years have passed since the gang of 4 friends had gone to the Jumanji game adventure island. In these 2 years, Spencer and his lady love Ruby were not sharing cordial relationship. Hence, feeling gloomy, he decides to enter the fantasy, but real world of Jumanji again. But soon, his friends, discover his absence and his entry to the game, and they too join him to bring Spencer back home. As soon as all of them arrive in the Jumanji world, they are now in different avatars (swapped) and not the one they were in their last game. It means, the game will also not be the same and will have more obstacles to overcome.

I was waiting ardently for this third installment of Jumanji because I loved the first and second parts. Hence, I watched it in theatres when released and that too in 3D.

Although I enjoyed this movie, I loved the second part more because in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, I adored the avatars and the game. In this movie, avatars are exchanged with each other, which is disappointing because Kevin Hart’s avatar is slow-witted, but thanks to the writers, after a while, all of them were in their original avatars and then the Jumanji world became more entertaining.

Furthermore, in the end, the makers leave us intrigued for the next movie as they show that, like the first part, Jumanji jungle will come back to the cities.
