Must Watch Light-Hearted (Hallmark) Movies on Netflix

Being an avid watcher, my day never ends without streaming online shows and movies. Thanks to Netflix, I got introduced to the world cinema and came to know how much the world has to offer.

My favourite genre is Rom-Com (romantic comedy) due to its light-hearted content and positive vibes. Life is not always smooth, but being optimistic can make it easy. Therefore, watching a good rom-com is my best of escapism and having a sanguine attitude.

Also, the lockdown has been extended, so make the most of it by watching warm-hearted entertainment and uplift your mood.

Out of many romantic comedy movies on Netflix, some were exceptionally light-hearted with minimal conflict which I loved watching the most. Then, I found out that these types of movies were made by Hallmark Channel.

In India, I only knew about Hallmark cards until now. I was amazed to know about the Hallmark Channel and its beautiful TV movie content. They own Christmas and each of their Christmas movies is full of life and happiness, apart from the magnificent decorations and themes.

I have seen their Christmas movies, winter movies, valentine, harvest, thanksgiving and much more. With each passing season, they offer marvelous movies accordingly.

Their stories are always predictable, mostly based in small towns, either widowed or divorced character, filled with fluffy romance, but still endearing. Also, it is meant for a family entertainer, so you won’t ever see any explicit or foul language.

Hence, if your movie choices are like me and want to watch some good soppy movies, then grab your popcorn, relax on the couch, and tune in to Netflix.

1) Harvest Moon (2015)

This is the story about Jenny, a Shopaholic, carefree and pampered girl of a rich father who doesn’t know how the world works until her dad goes bankrupt and the only way to stabilize their life is by gaining some money from their pumpkin farm which is located in a small town.

Therefore, she starts learning the way of life under the guidance of the country boy who is taking care of the farm. A very sweet, simple, story to find happiness in small things. I liked Jenny’s character as she is charming and jolly, and not like the rich spoiled girl.

2) Autumn Dreams (2015)

Annie and Ben, teenage lovers who eloped and got married, were forced to nullify their marriage by parents. Now fast forward 15 years later, both are engaged with others and then Ben finds out, that he is still married to his old flame due to some error in their marriage paperwork.

He should meet her and complete the papers to get the divorce, but after the meeting, both realize that they still feel the same for each other.

So, do they listen to their hearts or part ways again? I enjoyed watching this movie due to its teenage love and the fabulous chemistry between the couple.

3) October Kiss (2015)

A free-spirited Poppy takes a temporary job of Nanny after her sister’s recommendation because she is best in taking care and understanding children. She is hired by a workaholic widower to look after his two children. As Halloween approaches, she makes them learn the family love and joy in everyday life.

Again sweet family entertainers which will make you spend time with your family. I liked Poppy the way she is and how she makes the children happy.

4) Date with Love (2016)

Resemblance to Twinkle Khanna. Isn’t it?

Have you ever dreamed of going to prom with the person you adore? Well, we all do and sometimes we fantasize to go on a prom date with a celebrity, but we never try as we know it can’t turn real.

However, a teenage boy tries his luck and asks for his celebrity crush for a prom date through a video that goes viral. The celebrity comes across the video and accepts the offer as she has her own benefits of doing it. Soon she discovers the love of her life, not in this boy, but in his teacher.

I am sure you will love watching this movie as much as I did. Furthermore, if u see the side face of the celebrity actor, you can find resemblance to our desi girl- Mrs. Funny Bones aka Twinkle Khanna. Isn’t it?

5) Love by Chance (2016)

A busy pastry chef’s meddling mom decides to set up her daughter with an eligible bachelor as she doesn’t have time for a relationship. The daughter, on the other hand, believes in fate and thinks when it is meant to be, she will find the love of her life.

Little she knew that the doctor, she met and starts falling in love with him, are not actually the destiny, but a planned set up done by her mother.

Will she accept this love? Will she forgive her mom? Well, you can guess as this is a Hallmark movie.

6) Ms. Matched (2016)

Fairy tale wedding planner Libby gives every couple the dream wedding and it is obvious she dreams the same for her. She then meets Ben, an author who is against lavish dream weddings and encourages couples to go for a simple happy wedding, through his latest book. Although Libby finds him charming she is threatened by his idea of weddings and how it is disturbing her business.

It will show you how much a couple or family has to go through for the sake of sumptuous weddings. This movie is not in opposition to dream weddings, but to make your dream fulfilled in a realistic way. So, if you are the one who fantasizes the same, watch this movie and plan your wedding accordingly.
