Kangana Ranaut, the “Queen” of Bollywood has entertained us with many diverse roles since her debut in 2006.
Be it a character of a small town girl to a fierceness woman, she has excelled in every role she took and never failed to impress the audience.
There is always something new and fresh in each of her movies which becomes difficult for the audience to choose the best one.
Still, out of her many fantastic movies, I loved the Tanu Weds Manu Returns the most and always enjoy watching it.
Overview
Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a 2015 romantic drama film starring Kangana Ranaut, R. Madhavan, Jimmy Shergill, and Deepak Dobriyal.
The film is a sequel to the superhit 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu.
The story picks up four years into the marriage of Tanu and Manu who are now deciding to part ways and return to India. While Tanu is still unsure about her future, Manu decides to marry Kusum, a look-alike of Tanu.
How will Tanu and Manu’s relationship conclude, and will they ever realize their mistake?
Why Tanu Weds Manu Returns is my favourite Kangana movie?
According to IMDb, Tanu Weds Manu Returns is the first film, driven by the female lead, to gross more than Rs.100 crore net in India.
The movie’s storyline is simple but the way it is presented makes it worth watching.
The film starts with a bang in a London mental asylum where Tanu and Manu, four years after their wedding, go for marriage counselling.
The dialogue from Kangana:
‘’Itni happening life thi meri India mein, JHAND kar di hai is aadmi ne meri zindagi.’’ was particularly hilarious and left me rolling in laughter.
Despite being the first time Kangana took up a double role, the way she portrays both the characters with a distinct difference is really commendable and the biggest highlight of the movie.
Be it Tanu as the free-spirited, eccentric woman or the Kusum, the macho and athletic college girl, Kangana have beautifully played both the characters and audiences could sympathize with both together without being confused.
There’s also her dialogue delivery that makes you feel so many emotions through the course of the movie.
Here are some of my favourite ones –
When Manu ask for a marriage proposal to Kusum, she says ‘’Pichli lugai ke plaster toote nahi abhi, aur aa gaye sand se ladne.’’
When Tanu gets to know Manu is about to get married to Kusum, she says to him “Humne kahaan thodi bewafai ki, aap toh badchalan ho gaye.“
Even in the songs, she simply stole the show. In particular, I was floored by her performance in the Baawari song where she beautifully portrayed the pain of Tanu seeing her husband getting married to someone else.
I could go on and on about Kangana in Tanu Weds Manu Returns. She was the show stealer of the film.
Hence, I would highly recommend everyone to watch the movie, whether they are a Kangana fan or not. It is the ideal movie to watch during your chill time.
I have rewatched it a couple of times on ZEE5 and you could do so too.
