How to See the Best of Kuala Lumpur in Just 2 Days: My Experience
Sharing is Caring:

Since we had fewer days planned for Kuala Lumpur, we decided to book an early flight from Bali to KL. However, our flight got rescheduled and we ended up arriving at night instead of in the evening. Now we only have 2 full days to explore the city but I was confident that we can make the most of our time. I’ve watched some Youtube videos and know that all the tourist attractions are close to each other, except for two. So, we should be able to see everything we want to in just 2 days!

Kuala Lumpur, the heart of Malaysia, is a city that blends modernity with rich traditions. If you’ve got just two days to soak it all in like us, you’ll be amazed at how much you can see and do. Here’s how I experienced the best of this vibrant city in just 48 hours.

On the first day of my 2-day adventure in Kuala Lumpur, I started by visiting the iconic Batu Caves in the early morning. The majestic limestone caves and the towering Lord Murugan statue left me in awe of the beauty of this Hindu shrine.

Hey, do you think I made it to the top?

While on my way to Batu Caves, I had a chat with my Grab driver about Genting Highlands and how long it would take to explore Kuala Lumpur’s top attractions in just one day. Originally, I hadn’t planned on visiting Genting Highlands because I thought it was too far and I had limited time.

Therefore After exploring Batu Caves, I decided to take a detour to Genting. The journey to the highland was breathtaking, and the cool mountain air was a refreshing change from the city’s hustle and bustle.

If you want to check out the cool attractions at Genting Highlands that are way up in the sky, you have to take a fun gondola ride to get there! My main reason for going to Genting was to hop on that gondola, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I first experienced a gondola ride in Kashmir and absolutely loved it, so I was super excited to do it again in Genting.

On our way back down, we also made a stop at the Chin Swee Caves Temple, a beautiful Chinese temple nestled in the highlands.

“We didn’t have much time, but trust me, you could easily spend a whole day at Genting Highlands!”

In the evening, I made my way to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers to witness the stunning skyline views from the observation deck. The glittering city lights added a magical touch to my Kuala Lumpur experience.

To end the day on a high note, I headed to Bukit Bintang for a taste of the city’s vibrant nightlife. The bustling streets, lively bars, and endless shopping options made it the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.

On the second day of my trip, I kicked off the day by visiting the KL Tower for panoramic views of the city. The sky deck and sky box offered a bird’s eye view of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline, and I couldn’t resist capturing the stunning scenery.

Afterwards, I headed over to Merdeka Square where a motorcycle event had just wrapped up. But fear not, they still had food stalls and some fun activities set up for everyone to enjoy.  Near to it, was the national mosque of Malaysia, but we couldn’t go inside as it was the day of Jumma (Friday) namaz (prayer)

Later on, Lunchtime called for a journey through the lively streets of Little India, where the vibrant shops and delicious scents of Indian food pulled me in. The authentic tastes and bustling energy made it a meal to remember.

As evening approached, we made a return visit to Bukit Bintang because who can resist the excitement of KL’s heartbeat? We strolled through Sephora, Pavillion mall, and a bunch of other shops, caught a glimpse of street performers, and went to Jalan Alor, known for the local street food. Only I had the local noodle Chinese food because it was stinking too much and the taste was not likeable.

Since it was our last day, we soaked up the lively atmosphere of Bukit Bintang until 1am.

On my departure day, with a few hours to spare, I visited the nearby mall, Lalaport, for some last-minute shopping and relaxation. The modern amenities and trendy shops were a stark contrast to the traditional markets I had explored earlier.

After a leisurely morning at Lalaport, I headed towards the airport to catch my flight and bid farewell to Kuala Lumpur.

As I looked back on my whirlwind 2-day adventure, I realized that with careful planning and a sense of adventure, it is indeed possible to see the best of Kuala Lumpur in just a short time.
