Travel movies & shows
I love travelling and miss it so much. It’s been more than 3 years when I had gone travelling and am craving to explore the places as a traveller.
During these years and esp since the last two years, movies have been my getaway to travel. I could enjoy exotic locations along with the story in the comfort of my home.
I don’t know when I would be travelling again (hope it happens soon) Till then armchair travel is my alternative. They have me hook, line and sinker.
So if you are also looking for some great travel movies, then do watch these below movies and go on a virtual trip. Not only they are good location-wise, but also have a captivating story.
There are indeed many travel movies but these were my favourites which I can watch multiple times, hence sharing it. These travel movies and shows have given me some comfort and fueled my wanderlust.
Let’s go on a virtual travel ride with me.
Here are some of the travel movies which I enjoyed watching.
1. The Tourist – 2010
- Available: Netflix
- Language: English
An American tourist visiting Italy to seek solace for his broken heart encounters a beautiful woman on a train journey whose boyfriend is on a wanted list by Interpol. The woman pretends to be the tourist girlfriend in front of the agents who are spying on her making the tourist in a dangerous state.
A stupendous movie with a stellar star cast and alluring locations of Italy will inspire you to travel and make you feel good. This travel movie about Italy is a mood lifter.
I have watched this movie two times and enjoyed it a lot. The Euro-train and Venice canals are certainly pleasing to the eyes.
2. Emily in Paris – 2020
- Available: Netflix
- Language: English, Hindi
- Episodes: Season 1: 10
Emily is hired to a new job in Paris as an American representative. She is stoked to share her new ideas and begin a new life in Paris. However, due to her American status and inability to speak French, she is not been liked by her colleagues. To add more to her agony, her American boyfriend also breaks up.
However, she tries her best to adjust to this new life and start fresh.
I usually don’t watch western shows because it has many seasons, but I couldn’t ignore watching Emily in Paris as it has my two favourite things- Paris and a rom-com genre.
This travel show about France is entertaining with a picturesque view of Paris and Parisian life. It will give you a glimpse of France in the most stunning way and will make you want to pack your bags & travel. I was envious watching this show and waiting for the day when I can see Paris in reality. (God please accept my wish ;))
Now am eagerly waiting for Season 2.

3. Queen – 2014
- Available: Netflix
- Language: Hindi
Rani, a jilted would-be bride from Delhi, decides to go on her pre-planned Honeymoon to Europe alone. Little she knew that this European journey will change her life for good and leads to self-discovery & a better version of herself.
I still remember this movie was released during Women’s Day time and my company had arranged the movie date for our female employees. I was not expecting much from the movie, but man! How wrong was I? As soon as the movie started, it hooked all of us till the end and we left the cinema hall with inspiration and all praise for the movie.
I have watched this movie many times till now and the reason is, of course, the brilliant cinematography of the European places, traveller & local life in Paris & Amsterdam and the road to self-love. It has been re-made in many different languages, so you can imagine how good it must be.
As am jotting down, I can visualize the movie and the story. This reminds me that I need to watch this movie again (and I did ;)) One of the best travel Hindi movies of Bollywood that can be re-watched several times.
Further, it will inspire solo travellers as it shows how one can get connected to other travellers, start bonding and experience unique travel experiences.
4. The Lizzie McGuire Movie – 2003
- Available: Hotstar
- Language: English
This is an old teen movie about Lizzie who travels to Rome with her school pals where she is mistaken to be Italy’s pop star and had to live her life until things get complicated.
A light-hearted teen movie with breathtaking views of Rome is all you need to relive your childhood memories.
I had watched it three years before on Romedy Now channel and was completely in awe of it (watched it again today) This teen cum kid movie can be watched with the entire family and enjoy it.

When Scott is dumped by his girlfriend on graduation day, he shares this with his online friend, Meike. Meike then advises him to visit his place, but Scott takes it in the wrong way and speaks bluntly which angers Meike and he blocks him.

As the movie name says’ ‘EuroTrip’ it will take you to enchanting places of London to Paris to Amsterdam to Bratislava to Berlin and then Rome (Psssstttt… in real most of the film shooting was done in Prague). It will take you to some awkward, hilarious & embarrassing situations which are fun to watch.

7. The Package – 2017 – Kdrama
- Available: Netflix
- Language: Korean, subtitle in English
- Episodes: 12
This Korean travel drama is a perfect getaway to France as it shows some popular and unseen places in France.
A group of tourists meets up for their trip to France which includes Paris, Saint-Malo & Mont Saint-Michel in their package. As any group tour mingles among them, the same way these tourists steadily communicate, eat, and care for each other which unfold their life stories along with the spectacular locations of France.
If you are planning to visit France then this drama will help you a lot as it is based on a France tour and will guide you accordingly. I felt as if I was travelling with the cast because it is completely like a tour.
The drama has captured France in the most alluring frames esp. the scintillating Eiffel Tower shots. Mind you! It is too difficult to resist travel after watching the drama.
I need a lot of savings to fulfill my wish to visit France, but my bank passbook is looking at me cunningly. How sad is that? 🙁
